Welcome to Stokes Cycling Club
Stokes Cycling Club is a cycling group set up for people
and families to enjoy organised cycling rides in and around Bradley
Stoke and beyond for the purpose of pleasure and enjoyment. We are
affiliated to the nation Cyclists' Touring Club (CTC) and enjoy
many of their superb and exciting benefits.
We have a range of rides for all ages and abilities:

A ride for all the family including children of all ages,
whether in trailers, tag-alongs, or their own bike, but we ask that
their parents or a guardian accompany them.

If you're fairly new to cycling and are not used to distances
then this is perfect. Generally a gentle ride of around 15-20 miles
at a nice pace.

If you would like to step it up a notch then join our Medium
ride. Still at a steady pace but the distance teds to be around 30
miles.

If you want a challenge then this is for you. We are not road
racers, so the pace is still steady and we cover around 50
miles.

A must on a Wednesday evening. Includes a short ride to a
restaurant or pub, for a good old natter, food and great
company.

We are very lucky to have a MTB instructor within the group.
Rides are usually from 25-35 miles off road a great chance to put
any skills learnt into practice.
Please visit our Rides page for details
of our next club ride.

Fun for all the family - Community Sports Day

What a great event! The sun was shining and everyone had a great
time. On the bikes we had the cyclo cross, egg and spoon race and
slug slow bike race. For those without wheels there was sack
racing, obstacle couse and tug of war. Meanwhile there were
various craft activities going on including Bling Your Bike.
Then we finished with a bike parade to show off the Blinged
Up bikes.
Thanks go to Friends Of Jubilee Green our event co-organisers.
Also thanks to Bradley Stoke Radio who provided a
compare and PA system, Woodcraft Folk with their craft activities
and Holy Trinity Church who looked after the refreshments and
provided a low cost tuck shop.
A big thank you to Bradley Stoke Town Council who's Community
Development Grant funded this event and also to Bike Fix Bradley Stoke who
supplied prizes for the cycling events.

Bradley Stoke Community Festival
It was another good turn out for the festival this year and the
weather just about held out.
Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day with our stand and
thanks to everyone who visited the stand and showed an interest in
the club.
Easter Treasure Hunt - A great success
Wow, what a day! With no less than one hundred and thirty eight
participants, this year's Treasure Hunt was beyond everyone's
expectations and the helpers finished the day tired but happy, with
everyone enjoying themselves.
Event manager and Stokes Cycling Club Chairman, Bryan Huish,
said:
This was a great event, with lots more people than we
expected, and everybody ticked the box on the feedback form for "it
was a lot of fun" so it was all worth it. We'd like to thank
everyone for making this day a success, especially South
Gloucestershire council for their help in publicising it, and
BikeFix Bradley Stoke for the prizes and the Dr
Bike.
Lastly a big welcome to our seven new families who joined the
club at the end of their treasure hunt.

Mountain Bike Rides A Hit!
Everyone had
great fun on the Stokes Cycling Club's first mountain bike, and
after requests for more on that ride, we have since run several
more.
The ride leader, mountain bike coach Andy Parker, said:
The first ride was great fun, everyone had a good time,
and I was able to help some people with their technique. Everyone
came back with a smile on their face!
Rider Richard Burton, said:
Andy knew about tracks that I didn't even know existed, and
helped me improve my riding. It was a great ride and a lot of fun
and I'm looking forward to the next one.
If you fancy some fun riding with a friendly local bike club,
come along. And if you aren't into mountain biking, check out our
web site for our other rides, with everything from family rides to
fifty milers and everything in between.
